Description

Loving & Affectionate Male Labradoodle × Shar Pei Cross – 5 Years Old We are sadly looking for a loving new home for our much-loved family dog, a male Labradoodle crossed with a Shar Pei, born around February 2021. He is a very affectionate, cuddly and playful dog with a lovely personality. He absolutely loves attention, enjoys his walks and loves playing. At home, when everyone is relaxing, he is more than happy to cuddle up and enjoy being part of the family. He has a very loving side and is affectionate with us and our older daughter. He can also be very friendly and affectionate with friends and visitors once he has had the opportunity to get comfortable with them. His personality and temperament We want to be completely transparent about his behaviour to ensure he finds the right home. He can be quite reactive and excitable in certain situations, particularly when startled, meeting unfamiliar people or encountering other dogs. For example, if the doorbell rings, he will often bark and jump around with excitement. However, once visitors have settled and he has received some attention, he will generally calm down and become friendly. He can also react to dogs on television or when seeing other dogs out on walks. However, this isn’t always the case, and there are plenty of occasions when he can be perfectly fine around other dogs. He has never bitten anyone, although he has occasionally growled or snapped in certain situations, particularly around toys or when uncomfortable with handling. We feel it is important to be honest about this. We wouldn’t describe him as a naturally aggressive dog. He is more of an excitable, sometimes nervous dog who can become overwhelmed in certain situations. Once he feels comfortable and secure, his affectionate and playful personality really shines through. The home we’re looking for We believe he would be best suited to a patient, experienced dog owner who understands reactive behaviour and can provide consistent, positive training. Ideally, we would prefer a quieter home without young children, where he can receive plenty of attention, exercise and affection. A home where he is the only dog may be most suitable initially. He genuinely has so much love to give. He enjoys human company, loves cuddles, playing and going for walks, and can be a wonderful companion when he feels settled and secure. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but with our changing circumstances and having a young child, we feel that finding him a suitable home where he can receive the time, attention and understanding he needs is the right thing to do. Our priority is finding him the right home, not simply rehoming him quickly. We would welcome genuine enquiries from people who feel they could offer him a loving, patient and permanent home. We are happy to discuss his behaviour, personality and needs openly.
