Description
We recently rehomed this cute boy on Friday. Unfortunately, it’s not working out well with our children. I am happy to explain more. He can absolutely have calm child visitors and he isn’t aggressive but he is becoming very overwhelmed by them. Our kids are home ed so they are here 24/7.
Our kids went to my mums for the weekend, and the doggo was chill, calm, lovely on his walk, loves sniffing, friendly but submissive to other dogs.
When the kids come back, he gets very overexcited, and then won’t settle or sleep, he becomes very vocal and mouthy as he won’t shut off and sleep.
If it was just adults in the home, I’d 100% keep him as he is so affectionate and playful. But my kids are becoming a bit nervous of him and the doggos behaviour becomes quite draining when he’s overwhelmed as he will start stealing things too. He will drop anything for a salmon treat tho! Hes a big foodie! Loves his kong toy too and chewing and ripping up soft toys.
We’ve started crate training him which he’s been doing well with. Goes 11pm-6/7am without accidents. We’ve done a lot of work on his nipping/mouthing and he’s come a long way in a few days. He’s a very keen and fast learner. He just needs a calmer household!
We have a cat that he ignored 95% of the time, chased once when she snuck up on him. Previously hadn’t lived with cats.
He will need a lot of training, including house training and he is still having accidents in the house.
Happy to include his crate, toys and a nearly full bag of dog biscuits.
