It is with a heavy heart that I have to advertise Ivar through no fault of his own, on behalf of his owner. I am the breeder that she originally got him from. He is a 2 year old German Shepherd Male, fully intact. Ivar is great with children and has lived with cats but he can be a bit full on with them. Due to changes in family circumstances Ivar is under socialized with dogs. He is great with people. We think he can live with a female dog after proper introducing but he CANNOT be homed with another male. His owner can’t currently walk him on her own due to reactivity with dogs outside the home but with proper introductions he is fine with females in the home. Ivar’s owner would take him to dog fields several times a day to meet his exercise needs but with recent life changes she is unable to find the time or resources to continue doing this. Ivar is a beautiful big loving soul who just wants to make his people happy and feel as loved as he is which is why it’s so heartbreaking that this has to be done. His owner believes that in order for Ivar to have the fullest and happiest life he needs a person with the time, experience and knowledge to be able to train out his dog reactivity. Ivar has been raised in a loving family home with children whom he adores. We do believe that his reactivity can be fixed with training and work but it will take someone with experience he is a very powerful boy. We are looking for an experienced Shepherd or similar large breed home who is willing to put the Time, Love and Care into training out his reactivity and to provide the best for him. He will not go to just anyone this is being done with his best interests at heart so there is no rush to get him away. The right home and owners are the most important thing here he is an outstanding dog who will make a fantastic addition the the correct home. New owners should be within an hour of Glasgow as current owner wants to do a home visit/Check of any potential new owners before giving the dog to them.
