Wallace has nipped / bitten a few people, including a previous adopter. His reactions are generally brief and linked to discomfort, fear, being startled or handling he does not want, but his bite history must be taken seriously. He is NOT suitable for children or first-time dog owners.
💛 The Wallace we know
Wallace is a beautiful, affectionate little dog who can be incredibly sweet, cuddly and devoted. Most of the time he is a gentle companion who simply wants to feel safe, loved and understood. He is house-trained, sociable, enjoys his walks and can live happily alongside friendly dogs.
But Wallace also has a sensitive side that prospective adopters need to understand completely. When he feels frightened, cornered, startled, picked up or uncomfortable with handling, he can react very quickly with a nip or bite.

• Small companion dog
• Microchipped, fully vaccinated and neutered
• No known health issues
• House-trained
• Friendly and sociable with people and other dogs when comfortable
• Walks nicely on the lead once his harness is on
⚠️ His bite history - with complete transparency
Wallace has nipped a few people. One of those incidents involved Tom, the elderly gentleman who adopted him around six months ago. Wallace lived with him for approximately three months before biting him, after which the adoption ended and Wallace was returned to us.
We mention this not to label Wallace as a 'vicious' dog - because that is not the dog we know - but because nobody should adopt him without understanding that another bite is possible. A future adopter must make their decision on the basis of the dog Wallace actually is, not simply hope that it will never happen again.
His reactions are often connected with handling. He can startle when picked up, and things such as putting on a harness or veterinary handling can make him anxious. His warning can be very quick, so his person needs to learn his body language and avoid forcing interaction when he is uncomfortable.
🧠 The person Wallace needs
• An experienced, calm and confident dog owner - no first-time owners.
• Someone who understands that fear or discomfort can produce a bite response and will not panic if Wallace reacts.
• Someone able to read canine body language and respect his personal space.
• Gentle, predictable handling - avoiding unnecessary lifting and forcing physical contact.
• Clear, consistent boundaries without shouting, intimidation or physical punishment.
• Patience with harnessing, grooming and veterinary handling, using gradual positive associations.
• An ADULT-ONLY home. We will not place Wallace with children.
• His own secure private garden.
🐕 Living with other dogs
Wallace is generally friendly and sociable with other dogs and may actually benefit from living with a calm, friendly resident dog. As always, this would depend on sensible introductions and a good personality match.
🏡 Why the right match matters so much
Wallace has already experienced the disruption of an adoption ending. We do not want him passed from home to home because somebody falls in love with his beautiful face but later discovers they are uncomfortable with his behaviour.
We therefore need an adopter who is realistic from the beginning: somebody who understands that Wallace may nip or bite again and who is prepared to manage him responsibly, work on trust and give him stability rather than returning him at the first difficult moment.

For the right person, Wallace is enormously rewarding. He is affectionate, funny, loving and capable of forming a very close bond. He does not need somebody who will overpower him. He needs somebody whose confidence makes him feel safe - a person who can give him kindness without being nervous of him, boundaries without force, and affection without demanding it.
If you understand sensitive little dogs and are comfortable accepting Wallace as a whole - including the imperfect bits - you may discover a wonderful companion underneath that worried exterior.

• Mandatory Home Check (sometimes possible online).
• Adult-only, genuinely dog-experienced home.
• Own secure private garden.
• Wallace is to live purely as a loved family pet - never for breeding, guarding, working, assistance or service purposes.
• Adopters must keep in touch so we can offer lifelong support and follow-up.
• Full rescue backup for life. If circumstances genuinely change, Wallace must come back to us.
• Genuine dog-loving homes only.
