Description
Billie is officially a mini goldendoodle, as dad was a toy poodle and Mum a goldendoodle, but hes not going to be a small dog, I would say he will end up about halfway between a golden retriever and cockapoo in size. He currently weighs 9kg, and he is 16 weeks.
We got him a month ago, and are looking for the best possible home for him. I'm going to be really honest in this listing so please dont get in touch unless you think you can give him the home he needs.
Firstly, hes incredibly healthy and sturdy, there's no problems there. He's had all his vaccinations, our vet has checked him over, his flea and worm treatments are up to date. He's very clean in the house, uses his puppy pads or goes outside, and usually goes through the night without needing to even use the pads. He loves people, really loves kids, and seems okay with other dogs (not that we've got any). He knows his name, knows sit, knows no, knows 'gently'. He wasn't crate trained when we got him and we haven't tried it - he sleeps in the kitchen in his bed. He can be fussy about food, he was raw food fed as a puppy but we switched him over to cooked food, and he can be a bit picky. When he's hungry he gets nippy and barks. He also barks when he's overtired or overstimulated. He doesn't like the lead and has chewed through his twice, but again, we haven't had chance or capacity to train him.
He seems very clever, and he needs owners who have the time, energy and capacity to really work with that. Sadly, we dont. Ideally I would like him to go to a slightly older couple who have experience and time and attention to give him, with grandchildren who visit. He seems to really love children. But he gets easily overwrought too.
He doesn't show any signs of resource guarding. The only real challenging behaviour is when he is hungry or very over tired. He's very gentle with us apart from then, when he turns into a bit of a tantrummy toddler. He's currently teething, which probably isnt helping, he's not a furniture chewer though.
When we got him I had not long got out of hospital having been rushed in seriously ill. Its now looking like I need more investigations and potentially long term treatment. My partner is doing his best, but looking after a puppy is consuming work and Billie needs both of our attention, energy and patience at this age. We believe rehoming him is the best thing for him, and are hoping his perfect family is out there. He really will be the best dog ever, hes got all the potential to be. Hes just in need of more than we can give him now or in the short term.
