Description
Hello. I have over 25 years experience breeding and raising Hermann’s tortoises. I have been selling tortoises online for over 16 years under the name of ‘Hermtort’. I offer free advice for the rest of your tortoise’s life.
These babies are half Eastern Hermanns and half Western Hermanns. I was gifted a Male Western Hermanns and he mated with one of my Eastern Hermanns females. The babies produced by this female look more like Western Hermanns than Eastern Hermanns.
Compared to my Eastern Hermanns babies the shells of these babies have a brighter yellow shell with more markings. They also have more bright yellow markings / scales on their legs and more pale faces / lighter skin.
Western Hermanns do not grow as large as Eastern Hermanns. Western Hermanns are often referred to as ‘Dwarf Hermanns’. As these tortoises for sale are a mix between the two, it is likely that they will also have a smaller maximum size.
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) class these babies as Hermanns tortoises and do not differentiate between the two main Hermanns populations (The Eastern and Western populations).
These babies have had a perfect start to life with a varied weed diet and the correct humidity and UVB lighting.
