Description

Biscuit is a 7 Year old Large Sized Male approximately 35KG and currently based in Hampshire. Biscuit is neutered, vaccinated and has no known health issues. He is slightly overweight and is currently working on this with his family. Biscuit was rescued in Bacau Romania in May 2021 when he was approximately 3 Years old and moved into a foster home shortly after. He was described as a Labrador mix who was very healthy and Friendly aswell as being a high energy dog who needs an active home. He met dogs who he loved to run around and play with and children while there and loved everyone. He enjoyed lots of fuss and would jump up for attention. Lastly he was described as a big, goofy dog and a Gem from his family. He remained in his foster home for two months before he finally moved over to the UK to his current adoption home. Biscuit was adopted by his current family in July 2021 where he has lived happily for c. 4yrs, however they have had to make the difficult decision to surrender him due to his family feeling they do not have enough time or experience to continue working with him due to his dog reactivity and working full time. Biscuit is a very friendly boy who is very loving and likes lots of attention. Biscuit met children while in Romania however has not been around them since being in the UK, due to his very friendly nature it is felt he could share his home with Dog Savvy children 10+ with slow and sensible introductions. He is a big boy and unaware of his size. Biscuit currently lives with a cat in his home who he gets along well with, he can rarely chase her within the garden. He can however attempt to chase cats while on walks. He could share his home with a confident, dog savvy cat in his new home with slow and sensible introductions. Biscuit met and lived with dogs while in Romania who he got on very well with and enjoyed playing with however since arriving in the UK Biscuit has been very reactive towards other dogs particularly outside the home. He cannot safely socialise with other dogs and has to be permanently separated, his family have worked with a behaviourist previously however due to biscuit being very overstimulated on walks, they have been unable to improve his behaviours. Biscuit's home had another dog when he first arrived, he has always been very good with them with no issues. His family adopted a new dog after Biscuit who he was initially very reactive to, he was kept separated and his family worked on very slow introductions until they were happy together. Biscuit has been amazing with both of the dogs in his current home ever since with no issues. Therefore he could possibly share his home with another dog with the ability for long term separation and very slow introductions. There was a recent incident in January 2023 when Biscuit escaped after his owner's father accidently left the gate open. Biscuit escaped onto the road outside the home where he attempted to attack a small dog being walked by an elderly lady, while he was attempting to stop Biscuit he did snap in her direction by accident, this did not break the skin but did leave some bruising. His owner was able to safely put Biscuit on a lead before there was any injuries towards the small dog. Biscuit wears a collar, harness and lead and is always kept double leaded while on walks and wearing his muzzle. He is a big boy and can be very strong while on the lead especially when reacting towards other dogs. Biscuit is currently only walked at unsociable hours and in local secure fields due to his family living in a heavily dog populated area. He is looking for a home in a low dog populated area in future. Biscuit is a very good escape artist inside and outside the home. He will need a secure garden within his new home and someone able to safely ensure there is no escape risk through the front door etc. His current home have to ensure the house is heavily baby gated to ensure no risks. Biscuit will also need to remain double leaded at all times while outside on walks. Biscuit is toilet trained but is not crate trained. He has never been destructive and can be left alone within the home for up to 5 hours with no issues. He sleeps well overnight and goes to sleep very well, he can bark if he needs the toilet. Biscuit travels well in the car and will become very excited to go on new journeys. Biscuit doesn't display any guarding behaviours around his dinner currently however his family feel he may be more self conscious around his food in a new home. He will display guarding behaviours around high value treats such as bones. Biscuit's family have said the following about him: Biscuit is a lovely boy who loves a comfy bed and cuddles, he is the best dog inside the house once he settles, he has a goofy personalty and loves his food. He loves a treat for a few tricks and absolutely oves enrichment puzzles/toys. He loves meeting new people. He isn’t a fan of sudden, loud noises, especially fireworks. He can be sensitive to random noises but is generally okay.
