Description
4 year old male Staffordshire bull terrier looking for an experienced, committed home. We have come to the difficult decision of having to rehome our dog, due to behavioural changes since recently getting him back in my care, as well as significant change of personal circumstances, which mean I am no longer in the position to meet his needs or handle his behaviour appropriately.
He is a large, strong dog who forms deep bonds with his person. With someone he trusts, he is affectionate, loving and enjoys close company. He is house trained, settles well in a crate and is familiar to a home routine. However he is also a very nervous, energetic and highly vocal dog who needs a calm, confident and experienced owner. He often displays reactive behaviours in certain situations, and will become highly alert and bark persistently, particularly around strangers, visitors to the home, being handled or at other dogs.
Due to his behaviour he is not suited to first-time dog owners. He is fine with children, however due to his size and excitable nature will possibly be best in a quiet, adult-only home with no other pets with someone experienced with strong, reactive breeds who understands dog behaviour and is willing to work with him. With the right structure, boundaries and guidance, he has so much potential as I have previously seen, and with the right person he will thrive when given clear leadership and routine with patience and commitment.
He is neutered and microchipped. He does also have allergies which we believe to be environmental, however this is managed with daily medication. The medication for this is very affordable costing around £10 a month and keeps his symptoms under control. We are happy to provide full details to any serious enquiries.
