Description
Dorris is our beautiful 9 month old show cocker. She is absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to have at home. We kept Dorris as our keeper from her litter, as it was the last litter her mum pixie was having, and we wanted to keep her lines going.
However it has become very clear that Dorris Is a brilliant working dog, having completed her first gun dog puppy class and smashing her next level currently. She comes alive when in the field and you see her mind just switch ... we always put out dogs needs first and although it breaks my heart , she deserves to go on and do what she loves the most...using her mind.
Her temperament is not as quiet as i would like as a future mum, she is a worker spaniel mentality, and my show lines are much calmer normally. She deserves more than i can offer her. She is not being sold to be bred from so please do not get in contact if this is your intention.
We are looking for an experienced family fun working home for her, semi rural would be fab, Preferably with another dog, she has always lived in a group inside. However if you are experienced I'm sure she would cope alone with some reminding and training. So a home that Is prepared to carry on this style of training, or agility...something that she gets to work alongside her person.
We also need an experienced family that will continue to work on her social skills, She is still cautious of people and dogs, and is vocal when meeting, but not all the time. She may be vocal for the walk, then we will sit quietly in the coffee shop for an hour and ignore every dog and person happily for rest of walk. She just needs to have focus so working with her and giving her a say hello command then rewarding, then becomes a game which works really well and refocuses her. But you just need to advocate for her and not let people get in her space, let her say hello and then give them treats to give to her when focused.
In return you will get a lovely family dog, quieter than a working Coker but with the brain of one. She sleeps through the night, crate trained, travels well in the car. .has done group walks and coffee shop training. She just needs the support to get through her teenage stage now.
She is toilet trained to use a dog flap. Please do not enquire if you only want to walk her to the park everyday, because I can do that. I want someone who loves going to training classes , get her out in the forest, fun runs and walks ... not throwing a ball up the park on a weekend and a school run on weekdays.
