Description

Our boy, Chase, is almost 8 months old and a beautiful, loving Chihuahua cross. His mum is a Cavachon and dad is a Chihuahua. I am very reluctantly looking to see if anyone can offer him the very best home. Unfortunately, a few months back, Chase was attacked by an off lead dog. Luckily, he wasn’t injured but he has become reactive to other dogs, including our other pup. We have taken him to a trainer and been completing confidence building sessions and, with a lot of distraction, he is slowly improving on walks. He is still fearful however, and dislikes large groups and will resource guard certain toys and high value food at home which we manage closely. I can manage these ongoing issues on walks and in the small group sessions we attend, however, it is becoming increasingly diffucult to manage at home with our other pup. They play well together a lot of the time and the reactivity has gotten better in recent weeks with patience and close management but Chase is regularly on edge around our other dog. It breaks my heart but I feel the best thing for him is to go to a home without other dogs as he is becoming increasingly anxious and I just want what’s best for him. He knows basic commands (sit, stay, touch, give, paw etc) and is very food motivated so I continue to use treats for his training. He is toilet trained and sleeps in his crate through the night with no issues. He is fine with our cat and my 2 boys and he is a loving boy who loves cuddles and attention but I feel he is only going to improve with his confidence in a home where he is the only dog. He is not yet neutered as the vet recommended we wait until around 9 months. I will only let him go to a home I feel is suitable and to people who can offer him the individual time, patience and attention he needs and deserves. I work from home and so he is only ever left for short periods and will need to go to a home where he isnt alone for hours at a time.
