Description
🐾 Dexter – Loving, Trained Family Puppy Looking for His Forever Home 🐾
I took Dexter into my care at just 10 weeks old after his siblings and previous owner were living in an unfortunate situation that wasn’t healthy for him. Since then, Dexter has been raised in a safe, loving environment and has had hours of consistent training and socialisation.
Dexter is a lovely, social boy who is happy around everyone he meets. He is fantastic with both older and younger children, gets along well with other dogs, and has a calm, balanced temperament that makes him a joy to be around. He would thrive as a family dog and truly enjoys being part of everyday life.
Training-wise, Dexter is well ahead for his age. He knows:
• Sit
• Paw
• Spin
• Down
• Wait
• “In” and “Out” (including during tug play – he releases on command and resumes when told)
• Bark on command (loud!) and even whisper
He patiently waits for his food, is fully potty trained, and walks well on the lead (a little excited at first, but settles quickly). His recall is good and, like any dog, will benefit from continued reinforcement as he grows.
Dexter loves everyone, but within the home he will form a strong bond with his person and be a loyal, affectionate companion.
💔 The reason for rehoming
This is an incredibly difficult decision. My career path is moving toward security dog handling, and unfortunately, due to Dexter being a mix, he doesn’t qualify for this role. This would mean long periods of him being left alone while everyone works full-time, which wouldn’t be fair on him. Dexter deserves a home where he can get the time, interaction, and companionship he thrives on.
Dexter is believed to be a Lurcher/Spaniel mix on his father’s side; his mother is unknown but appeared similar. He will grow no larger than medium size and is currently in excellent condition with a healthy weight and good muscle tone.
