Description

Hazel has really been let down by people and has never known a loving home. She was a present to the only home she's known who then chained her on a very short chain to a tree after she was no longer a cute puppy and they got bored of her. A 2nd Chance volunteer who passed her every day on the way to work, decided to stop one day and ask the family about Hazel, they said they didn't want her anymore and that the volunteer could take her. Hazel missed out on a lot of socialising from being chained up and because of this, she is reactive to other dogs. Amazingly, she remains friendly and cuddly towards people, she is intelligent and loves toys and food. She enjoys playing with water and spending time with people. She is looking for a compassionate home to help her learn what it's like to be loved and that dogs are nothing to shout about! Hazel is very stressed in kennels and spends her time obsessing about the other dogs around her, she is very vigilant all the time and is unable to switch off and relax. Hazel is very vigilant to movement in the kennel environment and has lunged and barked at vehicles when on a walk. She is very likely to have a prey drive! Hazel is a very quick learner and is already learning how to target a muzzle. Hazel has spent 1700 days at 2nd Chance, she truly believes she is just a lap dog who just wants to spend her time loving people- we'd love to see her being loved in a home for the first time in her life. To make adopting Hazel even easier, 2nd Chance Dogs UK offer's lifetime support with every single dog, we want to see our dogs in happy, loving homes. 2nd Chance Dogs works with a qualified and experienced UK Behaviourist who can offer support and settling in advice to all adopted dogs.
