Description
11 months old | Kelpie x Border Collie | Male
With a very heavy heart, we are looking to find our gorgeous boy a new home. This is not a decision we have taken lightly — he is an incredibly loving, affectionate and special dog, but due to changes in our circumstances, we no longer feel we can give him the amount of time, exercise and attention he deserves.
He was born 24th October 2025 and is a medium-sized Kelpie x Border Collie. We have his DNA test papers.
❤️ His personality
He has an absolutely amazing temperament and is a very affectionate boy. He loves cuddles, sleeping in bed, being played with and having lots of attention. He is naturally very intelligent, curious and loves solving puzzles and trying new things.
He is very friendly with other dogs and has never shown aggression towards them. He can be easily distracted around other dogs, which is why we currently only allow him off lead in secure/safe areas when other dogs aren’t around.
He is also comfortable around cats. However only to his current siblings so slowly introducing the is a must.
He can be a little nervous around young children, but has never been vicious or aggressive and has settled well around younger family members. He seems to be particularly comfortable around teenagers and adults. He just needs a bit more adjusting time to new people however adults he LOVES meeting anyone, he’ll get excited, tail wagging and brushes upon his legs.
He is especially obedient with men and can be very protective of his female owner.
🐕 Training
He is still a puppy and isn’t fully trained, but he has come an enormous way since we got him.
We have taken him to dog boot camp and have worked hard with him. He can:
• Sit
• Lie down
• Stop and sit at road crossings
• Wait until given permission to cross
• Follow basic commands
• Walk on lead much better than previously
• Recall is improving significantly
His recall is still a work in progress because, like many young working dogs, he gets very distracted — particularly by other dogs. However never tries to attack only play.
He comes with an 8m long line which we use for practising recall safely.
🌳 Exercise & lifestyle
He is a working breed, so he needs an active home that can give him plenty of exercise, training and mental stimulation. He currently needs around 2–4 hours of exercise/walking and enrichment a day, so we feel he would be happiest with someone active who genuinely enjoys spending lots of time outdoors.
He absolutely loves:
🐾 Long walks
🌊 Rivers and water
🧩 Puzzle toys and enrichment
🎾 Playing
🐕 Exploring
🌿 Being outdoors
🐥 Watching and herding ducks
🚗 Going on adventures
He previously lived around ducks and absolutely loved watching them and naturally herding them, so we feel he could potentially thrive in a rural/farm-type environment, provided the person understands the needs and instincts of a working breed.
🛁 Some of his funny little traits
He LOVES treats and isn’t fussy at all. His diet is currently a mixture of raw/wet food pouches and kibble. He loves chicken, fruit and vegetables and, of course, always collects his cheese tax 😂
He loves pup cups and absolutely loves getting wet — after a bath he gets the funniest wet zoomies!
🚗 Travelling
Car journeys are something we are still working on. He generally enjoys travelling, especially when he knows a long walk or adventure is coming, but journeys over an hour can sometimes make him drooly or sick. This has only happened once, but it’s something a new owner should be aware of and continue working on.
🏡 The home we’re looking for
We want to be completely honest because our priority is finding him the right forever home, rather than simply finding him a home quickly.
Ideally, we’d like someone who:
• Has experience with dogs or working breeds
• Has plenty of time for him
• Is active and enjoys long walks
• Can continue his training and recall
• Understands that he is still a puppy
• Can provide lots of enrichment and mental stimulation
• Has the patience to continue building his confidence and training
• Ideally has a secure garden/outdoor space
He would potentially be very happy with an active family, couple or individual. A home with teenagers could be particularly suitable.
He is a genuinely lovely boy with so much potential. He is intelligent, affectionate, loyal, playful and incredibly loving. We have seen such a huge improvement in him since bringing him home, and we want someone who will continue that work and give him the life he deserves.
He will come with his 8m long line, harness, collar, lead, slow feeder and DNA paperwork, along with all the information we can provide about his routine, diet and training. As well as his current food diet, and large bags of treats.
💗 We will be very selective about his new home. We are not looking for the first person who asks — we want to speak to potential owners and make sure it is the right match for him. We would prefer if we could take him to your home first as a way to check he’s suitable as he needs access to a large garden for running around and needs a stable comfortable environment.
Please message with some information about yourself, your home, your experience with dogs and what sort of lifestyle you could offer him.
No timewasters please. Serious and suitable homes only. 🐾❤️
