It breaks our hearts to have to write this, but we’re looking for a loving forever home for our granddad’s beautiful girl, Nelly. Nelly is 4 years old, a purebred Staffordshire, and is an incredibly affectionate, loving and well-behaved dog. She absolutely loves to play, enjoys being in the garden, and is very good with children. She’s a real people dog and loves being around her family. We originally rescued Nelly from another family where, sadly, she wasn’t being looked after as well as she deserved. We felt so sorry for her and wanted to give her the happy, safe and loving life she deserved — and she has had exactly that with us. She has been used to spending her days with our granddad, who is 92, and she is very settled in the company of an older person. She currently gets two walks a day, morning and evening, by grandchildren. Unfortunately, my granddad is now too weak to walk or properly care for her, and with everyone in the family having their own commitments — and me being away a lot this year — we’ve had to face the difficult reality that we can’t give Nelly the time and exercise she needs long-term. This is an incredibly hard decision, because Nelly is such a loving and special dog. She deserves a family who can give her lots of attention, plenty of walks, time to play and, most importantly, a lifetime of love. We feel she would be especially happy with a family who has children, a garden, and plenty of time to spend with her. Please, if you’re interested in giving Nelly her forever home, only get in touch if you genuinely have the time, love and commitment to give her the life she deserves. We will be very careful about who she goes to, because finding the right family for her is more important to us than anything else. This isn’t something we ever wanted to have to do, but we know that finding Nelly the right home is the kindest thing we can do for her.
