Description
Ruben is an 18-month-old KC registered German Shepherd with pedigree papers, fully up to date with vaccinations, health care, and recently neutered. He comes directly from a reputable breeder and is a beautiful, healthy, highly intelligent young dog.
He is exceptionally friendly with people, very affectionate, loyal, and forms deep bonds with his owner. Ruben thrives when he has a strong connection with one person and loves being involved in daily life. He is brave, confident, active, and highly engaged with his environment. He is not an anxious or generally reactive dog.
Ruben is very well socialised and has lived around dogs, cats, children, and busy environments. He is excellent with female dogs, fine with cats, and can live with children. On walks he ignores other dogs well and is obedient with good recall and engagement.
However, Ruben can be challenging around some male intact dogs in close social settings, and because of this he would be best suited either as the only dog in the home or with a compatible female dog. He is not suited to inexperienced owners or homes looking for a low-maintenance pet. He is a working-breed shepherd who requires stimulation, structure, exercise, and ongoing engagement.
Ruben is being rehomed due to unavoidable personal circumstances, and this has been an extremely difficult decision. We are committed to finding the right experienced home for him and are looking for someone who understands the breed and can provide the time, leadership, and connection he thrives on.
Because of how strongly he bonds, we expect there may be an adjustment period while he settles into a new home, but with the right owner Ruben has the potential to be an exceptional companion.
