Description

Kay is a lovely setter who was unwanted by his hunter because he wasn’t much of a hunting dog. Setters are bred to hunt far and wide, but Kay has always preferred to stay close to his person rather than being out in front with the other dogs. This has meant he has been passed from hunter to hunter, with each one hoping they could turn him into the hunting dog they wanted. Thankfully, Kay has now finally ended up at one of the shelters we work closely with, and we really hope that the qualities that made him unsuitable for hunting will mean someone can have him as a wonderful family dog. The ladies at the shelter say they have never known a setter quite like him. His temperament is much more like a Golden Retriever or Labrador, who are bred to stay closer. Kay also has a wonderful character, he is a cheerful, playful and confident boy who is very friendly with new people. He has a nice, balanced energy level, so he would suit a family who doesn’t want an extremely active dog. Kay is sociable and playful with other dogs and can happily live with others but he could also be an only dog as he doesn’t rely on other dogs for company and loves getting attention and fuss from people.
