I’m putting some feelers out regarding my Border Collie who turns 2 at the end of this month. He’s a really lovely, happy dog with loads of personality and is brilliant off-lead with excellent recall — I rarely need to use a lead with him. He’s incredibly loyal and thrives when he has plenty of structure, mental stimulation and exercise.
I want to be completely honest about him so he goes to the right home. He is a very high-drive working breed dog and needs a lot of daily stimulation and engagement. He’s currently very fit and lean. He can also be reactive in certain situations (he can bite, although it’s rare and avoidable once you understand his triggers) and he isn’t good with other dogs, so he absolutely needs an experienced owner who understands behavioural dogs and the Border Collie breed.
Since moving out on my own I’ve realised I can’t consistently give him the level of time, stimulation and structure he really needs, which isn’t fair on him. I’m not in a rush and he will only go to the right home. Ideally this would be someone very active and experienced with working breeds who can give him the physical and mental outlet he deserves.
