Description
This is such a reluctant post. Kinako joined my family a few months ago as an unneutered Tom. We’ve worked hard to get him neutered, blood tests (all clear), flea and worm treatment and a course of antibiotics (he had a high temp and unspecified infection, probably respiratory). And he is turning out to be very loving, vocal, and clingy like ragdolls often are. Sadly he’s not got over his dominance as we hoped he would post neutering and he’s making my other cats’ lives really hard. They’re sad, are barely home, and they deserve not to feel pushed around by a cat who is just naturally more dominant than they are. He would make an amazing only cat for someone. He’s an intelligent, funny, engaging, intense, demanding, face-licking, half the bed hogging, food loving, grumbling, mega purring home-body who just wants to be with his people all day. He’s been pootling around the garden a bit and isn’t interested in adventuring far. He’s not a hunter. He’s never had free access to outside before and whilst he’s got a suitable level of stranger fear I’d worry about him being near a busy road as he’s not earned his traffic sense so you’d need an enclosed garden or, to be fair, he’d be happy without outside access, it’s not a big thing for him. Perfectly litter trained. He’s lived with dogs before but like I said I think he’d love his own place and own person/people. I don’t think he’d enjoy being around children. I’m going to be a bit picky about his next home, he really deserves the next one to be forever and always. He’s such an adorable cat just not a fit for my family sadly. I feel awful not sticking with it but my other cats’ happiness matters just as much and some cats just don’t fit well in a group of other cats, which is definitely the case here.
