Description
Filip would make somebody the perfect dog! He’s a big soft fluff ball who loves a fuss and a good nap!
Inside:
In the home, he is an absolute delight! He’s house trained, eats well (mix of dry & wet) but he is a slow eater. He will jump up at you/other people when you come in the house, but he’s just saying hello!
He will happily sleep on his own downstairs or in the room with you, he might start out on the bed for a cuddle, but he’ll take himself to the floor to sleep!
The main concern with him is his barking; he’s come along so well with this over the last few months, and can be more easily distracted from outside noises (ambient music/radio/tv etc during the day) but if he hears other dogs/voices outside he will bark at this - including during the night. BUT it used to be hard to settle him from this, but now he might bark once or twice and will respond to distractions and commands to pull his attention away.
When meeting new people inside the house, Filip will likely bark at them for a while but once he realises it’s a friend, he will stop! Usually a positive, calm introduction and a stroke will get him on your side!
Outside:
Outside the house, Filip can struggle. He’s quite heightened and anxious once outside, and although he does seem to want to be outside, he is very alert to other dogs & people when out and about. He does bark quite forcefully, which can seem worrying but is comes from a place of anxiety and apprehension, rather than aggression.
We’ve been slowly muzzle training Filip, however he is very averse to this and will need someone who is confident to continue this.
Filip can cope with very short walks, but would need to be at times when there’s less foot traffic or it would be most idea if he can be walked in quiet areas.
Other:
He’s quite happy to be in the house and the garden, but he doesn’t like wet grass or puddles!
Filip enjoys wearing jumpers, he might benefit from a soft compression vest/jumper! We use calming plug ins all over the house and have found they work well.
Filip has lived previously in a house with multiple dogs, and coped okay and currently lives with our resident dog (AKA a grumpy old man) and I would best describe their relationship as a big brother who tolerates their little brother! They get on well most of the time, Filip can show some resource guarding and should be fed away from other dogs, if living with them. He could absolutely live with another dog if they are confident and happy with other dogs, and not bothered by barking.
