Tiddles is a lovely companion. He lost his lifelong companion this year, when his owner passed a way. He’s since moved in with a family member but is stressed by the dog in the home. He has, however, made a wonderful bond with the “man of the house”. Who he seems to enjoy greeting at the door when he comes in from work.
Tiddles will happily accept a fuss, although he is not really a lap cat. He has a gentle, independent nature and seems to particularly enjoy having a predictable routine and a quieter environment around him.
He has previously lived in a much busier part of the city and was prone to overgrooming when stressed. His current home is quieter and he seems much happier for it, so we are looking for a similarly calm household for him. Tiddles has also lived well with another cat before, so he is cat-compatible. He is not, however, a fan of dogs and “will fight” them.
He tends to hide when children are around, so an adult home without young children would probably suit him best.
Despite being 13, Tiddles still enjoys his daily playtime. He particularly likes a wand toy, which he enthusiastically bunny-kicks, and he enjoys catnip when it is part of his favourite toy. He has even shown some interest in a laser pen. He does not seem particularly interested in scratching posts or pads, but he is otherwise an easy boy to have around.
Tiddles has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after losing weight and becoming very hungry. He has now started medication twice daily, given with two of his meals approximately 12 hours apart. He is eating well and is currently having small amounts of wet food throughout the day.
His adopter will need to be comfortable continuing his medication and working with the vet as his health needs are assessed and managed. We think Tiddles deserves a home that sees senior cats as companions with plenty of life and personality left to give.
Tiddles is also known to be a bit of a man’s cat, so if you or someone in the household is a man, this may be your guy.
