If you're looking for a cat who will make sure you're never bored, meet Malachi (mah-lah-chee) Murphy. This confident, affectionate boy has a personality that fills a room, and he has absolutely no intention of being a background character in your life. He's wonderfully bold, loves meeting new people and is the sort of cat who will happily approach a delivery driver for a few pets. Nothing much seems to faze him, and he has a rather entertaining habit of getting involved in absolutely everything you're doing.
Malachi is a proper attention-seeker. He'll come and settle on your chest, put his paws on your face or follow you around the house to make sure you're not getting up to anything without him. He's also a very vocal boy who loves being spoken to, and he's more than happy to have a little back-and-forth conversation with you. He's comfortable being picked up and enjoys being close to his people, so expect a companion who wants to be involved in your day rather than quietly watching from a distance.
He's also a wonderfully comical character with plenty of energy to burn. Malachi loves being up high, whether that's perched on a cat tower, exploring shelves or jumping down from the fridge to investigate what you're doing. He has his little zoomies and is always looking for something interesting to get involved in. His confidence and enthusiasm are a big part of his charm, but they also mean he needs a home that can keep up with him and provide plenty of attention throughout the day.
Play and Enrichment
Malachi is a very active boy who loves interactive play. He's particularly fond of wand toys, laser toys and rattles, and he has a rather unusual favourite pastime: bringing sticks in through the window and playing fetch with them! He would benefit from around 20 minutes of interactive play, three to four times a day, alongside plenty of opportunities to climb and explore. A large, sturdy cat tower and secure shelving would be ideal for this adventurous boy.
Catnip is another favourite, although it can send Malachi into a bit of a frenzy. He's been known to practically climb the curtains when exposed to it, so it may be best to use it cautiously and keep an eye on how stimulated he becomes. He's not an aggressive cat, but his enthusiasm can get the better of him. As he's getting a little less hyper with age, a good balance of play, attention and rest will help him settle into a happy routine.
Ideal Home
- A home where Malachi can receive lots of attention (ideally including during the day on some days), perhaps with multiple people around to keep him company.
- A family home could be a great fit, as Malachi loves children and seems to enjoy their energy.
- A home where he can be the only pet. He has shown a tendency to chase and pounce on other cats and can be too enthusiastic around dogs.
- A home with regular outdoor access.
- Someone who enjoys an interactive, vocal and highly involved companion rather than a cat who is content to entertain himself.
Our adoption fee is sliding scale from £100 - £190 depending on the postcode of adopter.
