Description

ACE IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE Ace is a young male brindle lurcher 💚Ace is around 27” to the shoulder and now weighs about 28kg ‼Ace arrived from a difficult situation: he was very underweight, full of worms, and very unsure of people. ‼Ace is missing two toes from his left foot; apparently he had to have them amputated but we have been unable to find any medical history with any local vets; we sadly suspect this may have been a DIY operation. 💚Ace has received a full medical check-up at our vets since he arrived and his foot x-rayed. His foot does not show any inflammation in his joints, but his surviving middle toe is a bit more extended than normal, due to having to compensate for having to balance on only half a foot. In the future Ace may develop arthritis in this leg due to the strain of having to walk at an odd angle. Ace prefers being allowed to run at his own pace in an enclosed field. Ace may struggle with longer walks and his foot might bother him on hard surfaces like tarmac. 💚It’s taken quite a few months for Ace to learn that people are to be trusted and no-one is going to hurt him again. He’s now more relaxed in kennels, and enjoys interacting with the kennel staff and playing with toys. He can sometimes still react if he feels threatened (hardly surprising considering his history), so he will need experienced, firm but fair, patient new owners who know to give him the space and time he needs. He cannot be rehomed with children. ‼Ace is still wary of strange men, and will probably need a muzzle if walked in busy places. ‼Ace is not keen on other dogs and does not want to live with one. However he generally ignores other dogs (unless they are in his face) rather than being reactive. ✅Ace travels well in the car. ‼Ace needs to wear a muzzle at the vets, where he gets quite stressed and can be defensive. ❌Not suitable to live with cats ‼We were told by his previous owner that Ace had food-guarding issues. We have not seen any sign of it since he’s been here, but it’s not impossible that he may exhibit signs of food-guarding again in a new home. Ace is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE THOUSANDS DIE; SAVE A LIFE - ADOPT
