Boysie
đŸ 7-year-old Miniature Poodle
đ Fostered in an adult-only home in Gloucestershire with other dogs
Boysie came into rescue alongside five other dogs from a breeder who has now stopped breeding.
He has lived a very sheltered life, surrounded by multiple dogs in a quiet rural environment.
The day he arrived in rescue was understandably overwhelming for him, but he was welcomed into the safe and experienced hands of his foster carer, Aunty Ali, and her two dogs.
A calm, quiet home where Boysie has been able to decompress and begin to adjust at his own pace.

Although he shares a similar background to the other dogs, we believe Boysie has had a little more exposure to the outside world. He appears confident on the lead, enjoys his walks, and travels well in the car.

He is settling in nicelyâsleeping in his crate in the bedroom at night, and his house training is coming along well. He has met other dogs and is very relaxed and nonchalant around them.
Boysie is a very affectionate little dog who loves to be close to his people and soak up attention. He has also been left for a few hours and coped well, with no issues.
He thoroughly enjoyed his visit to a secure field, where he was able to explore and relax at his own pace. He gets on well with the other dogs in his foster home and will often lie alongside them, although he hasnât yet shown interest in play.

Boysie has been to the vets for a full health check and to begin his vaccinations. He was also treated for an ear infection
When he returned to the vets a week later, his ear infection hadnât improved as much as hoped, so treatment has been restarted. he has now been neutered, and underwent a much-needed dental.
Sadly, his dental issues were more severe than expectedâhe had only six teeth remaining, all of which had to be removed due to significant infection at the back of his mouth. He is now on two courses of antibiotics and will return to the vets in two weeks for a further check.
On a positive note, Boysie gained 0.3kg in under a weekâan encouraging sign.
Itâs likely he has been living with considerable pain, but he is now recovering well in his foster home.
Weâre very much looking forward to seeing a pain-free Boysie emerge as his body heals and he responds to treatment.
Boysie will need a special, understanding home with previous experience of rescue dogs.
He would benefit greatly from living with another calm, gentle dog of a similar size who can offer reassurance and quiet companionship. Because he does enjoy his walks and the field so much it has to be someone active enough to offer him this he is not just a lap dog.
An adult-only, peaceful home is essential, where his new family will continue the patient, kind approach his foster carer has given himâgradually introducing him to the world without overwhelming him, allowing his confidence to continue to grow.
