Description
Hi, I’m Gretchen, and I am currently in foster near Devon 🤍
I was born in the fields in Cyprus with my siblings. We spent the first part of our lives outside, trying to survive on our own. Looking back, it is a miracle that we made it through the Cyprus winter without a home, without protection, and without anyone to keep us safe.
All of my siblings have now found their homes, and I am the last one still waiting.
Maybe that is because I have always been a little more reserved. I am a gentle girl with a curious nature, but I can be shy when I first meet new people. I like to watch, understand, and feel safe before I fully let myself trust.
But now that I am in foster, I am already showing everyone that there is so much more to me.
With patience, kindness and a calm routine, I am starting to come out of my shell. I am learning that people can be safe, homes can be warm, and hands can bring good things like treats, fuss and cuddles.
And yes, I have already started going to ask for affection.
I may not throw myself at everyone straight away, but once I begin to trust, I will quietly come closer. I will ask for a fuss. I will enjoy gentle cuddles. I will show you the sweet, clever, loving girl who has been waiting underneath all that uncertainty.
I am food motivated and I enjoy learning when things are calm and positive. Treats help me feel brave and make it easier for me to try new things. I like having something to do, whether it is food-search games, training, or little activities that keep my mind busy.
Other dogs help me too. I enjoy their company, learn from them, and often take confidence from them. I have also started learning recall in a secure fenced area and I am showing that I can listen, connect and make progress.
What I need now is someone who understands that I am still learning about home life. I need patience, routine, kindness and gentle guidance. I need someone who will not rush me, but who will celebrate every little step forward with me.
I am not a perfect, ready-made dog. I still have little wild moments, curious moments, and moments where I may need reassurance. But I have so much potential, and in foster I am already proving that with the right people, I can blossom.
I survived more than any puppy should have to.
Now I am ready for the part of my story where I finally belong.
Could you be the person who helps me keep growing?
