Description

Unfortunately I have to find a home for my Alexandrine due to allergies. I have wanted a parrot for years and now I have one, it turns out my nephew is allergic to him. I have had him for 5 months. Got him at 12 weeks old. He's now at an age where he is starting to mimic sounds and wanting to interact so would be perfect for someone with time and patience to train him. He is on a diet of fresh veg daily and Harrisons pellets. He has fruit as a treat once a week. He is not fussy with food and tries everything I give. I wanted him on the best diet so I buy fresh and different veg every other day. He was hand fed but not use to being handled. He takes food nicely from me. Calls me to give him treats and will fly over on the odd occasion. He will step up on to a perch and comes out of his cage at 6am, stays out all day on top and then goes back inside to sleep at night. I don't like the idea of him being inside the cage unless necessary. He will sit on my arm or climb up to my head when I have him away from the cage. He is very much still a baby so wants to get back to his cage if he can see it when I'm handling him. he will take pine nuts nicely from anyone. He just needs to get use to your face but that only takes 15 to 20 mins of sitting in the living room with him. He is clipped but can still fly quite a distance. He just cannot take off. He will fly back to his cage from my arm with ease. He will have a full moult in the next 6 months and be able to fly properly. Alexandrines are able to talk and can learn 250+ words. They are very clever and sociable. They are not as loud as macaws or as clingy as greys. I picked him because they are not dusty like other bird species. I got told they think he is a boy because of the shape of his head but males develop a ring around their neck at 18 months so will not know for sure until then. They can live 30 to 40 years and I would love to find him a forever home as that was my intentions with him. I have called him Kiwi and he does seem to know his name. I've put as much information in the ad as I can think of but feel free to ask anything I may have missed.
