Description
Breaking my heart to have to look for a more appropriate home for Merlin.
Hoping to move to a more rural setting but it's not going to happen as soon as I'd like.
Merlin is tame, easy to pick up and cuddle and very bonded to me, as well as in love with my gold silkie who is now raising his chick indoors (see photo).
I carry him and his dad indoors every night and out every morning, but the vocal competition between them has become too much for certain neighbours.
He is strong, healthy and active, has been raised on organic pellets. He has ‘growers’ for breakfast indoors (to limit the calcium
he gets from sharing the hens layers pellets in the run). They all get fresh veg and health-building treats like blueberries, black oil Sunflower seeds, unhulled sesame seeds and mixed corn. Water is supplemented with Oregano Stim, apple cider vinegar with the mother and occasionally vit B, organic whenever possible.
He is housed in a walk in Omlet run sectioned off as he cannot be near his dad any more.
Hatched June 27th 2025, now 7 ½ months old.
His blue is from his blue araucana dad and his shimmering gold hackle and saddle feathers are from mum.
Dad is purebred British tailed bearded blue Araucana. Mum is half buff Orpington and half Cream Crested Legbar dad and she lays jade green eggs. So he carries the blue egg gene from both parents.
Merlin’s Legbar grandad also handed down some pretty barring in Merlin's gold feathers and gave him his floppy comb, which does not seem to bother his vision.
Merlin is very tame, very loved and spoilt, heathy, strong and active.
I am looking to find Merlin a loving and safe new home where he will always get veterinary care if ever needed.
Would very much appreciate info and pics about your set up and an update when he has settled in, please.
I am prepared to travel a reasonable distance from Bournemouth for the right home and if you are close enough I will bring him to you myself.
Price is to attract genuine interest only.
Merlin is good natured and ideal for a family country back garden.
He has a lovely classic crow but this is his first spring and Merlin is very keen to prove himself, so give him time, though away from his dad he will should be notably quieter.
I am truly very sad being forced to part with him.
If you have room for my lovely boy, please get in touch.
Any questions welcome.
