Description
Caramel is a wonderful sweet girl, a typical pup, 7 months old. She was abandoned in Crete with her siblings. Luckily, she was rescued and kept safe.
Caramel is adapting well to her new UK life; she will need a family to continue training and helping her adapt.
If you feel you match her ideal home and are keen and ready to adopt, please get in touch.
Criteria and home check will apply. Adults over age 30 and Children will need to be over 12 years of age.
Where does Caramel sleep at night? Caramel sleeps downstairs with our other dogs.
How is Caramel with current pets? We have 3 small female dogs, and Caramel has been great with them. We also have 2 cats whom Caramel has ignored. She is spooked by the chickens and turkeys 😊
Is Caramel clean indoors? Yes, she is a super good girl and uses the garden.
Can Caramel be left alone? We have left Caramel alone with our dogs for short periods of time with no issues.
Is Caramel out for walks? Caramel loves going out and has 2 good walks a day. She is a little nervous initially, but soon settles.
How does Caramel walk on the lead? Caramel walks beautifully on the lead but can be quite strong if she gets spooked or excited. I am using a harness, which she tolerates well.
We haven’t been near the roads yet, but I anticipate she will be nervous about traffic. It is a very new environment to Crete.
Has Caramel met other dogs? Caramel loves other dogs and is keen to meet any that we see out on walks.
How is Caramel with humans? Caramel is a super sweet and gentle soul. She is shy with people initially, but then quickly warms up (particularly if they have chicken or cheese 😊). She is curious and inquisitive, and if we are calm around her, she will come over for a stroke and an ear scratch. She likes to be close, and we have put her bed by the sofa so she can have a stoke from whoever is sitting down.
She is still getting used to affection and can’t cope with too much at once. She will indicate she has had enough by turning away and we have respected that.
Have you noticed Caramel is afraid of any particular things? Caramel is getting braver every day. Household noise doesn’t seem to bother her at all. She is not keen on going through gates, and we must go first, and then she follows.
Any other useful information?
Caramel loves her food and is a hungry girl. She is quite shy around her food and often needs a bit of encouragement. She would let our other dog eat it if we didn’t keep an eye on them. She is having 3 meals a day as she is still quite skinny. She loves chicken and cheese as treats.
I think Caramel would like to live with another kind and gentle dog. She would not cope with a boisterous dog. Lots of doggie playdates would also be very beneficial to help her confidence around other dogs continue to build.
Caramel is going to need a good amount of exercise, so would love a family who will take her for lovely long walks.
Caramel loves her sleep. Once home from a walk, she likes nothing better than curling up in her bed and snoozing.
Caramel is learning about toys and is enjoying exploring the doggy toy box.
Caramel travels well in the car.
Caramel is as clever as she is beautiful and is responding well to firm boundaries. She loves praise, and this seems to be working well. With the right family, her confidence will continue to grow, and her true personality will emerge – this will be lovely to see.
Although Caramel is doing incredibly well, she still has a long way to go.
She will need a family who are fully committed and prepared for the hard work that comes with taking on a rescue dog.
Caramel is such an adorable girl, and we are so excited that she will soon find her forever home and a family who will shower her with love and kindness that she deserves. We are loving being her foster family, and we will miss her a lot.
