This is something I never thought I’d be writing, and it’s not a decision we’ve made, but I’m starting to put some feelers out to see if there might be a suitable home for our girl, Bambi. Bambi is a female German Shepherd x American Bully, around 25kg. Roughly 2 and half years old. She’s a strong, lively girl who can be very playful and pulls quite strongly on the lead. She needs someone who understands her size, strength and needs, and who is willing to put the time and consistency into her training. Ideally a home with no children or older kids 10+. Due to a worsening health condition she spends far more time in her crate than I’d ever want for her. That isn’t the life I want for her, and I feel awful about it but after exhausting a lot of options im now looking at alternatives. Ideally, I want Bambi to have a life where she can spend time out of her crate, get plenty of attention, enjoy walks and have someone who has the time and energy to work with her. She loves toys, walks, parks and just wants to play with other dogs however due to her size her excitement can be a lot on the lead but she plays very well with other dogs. She has been around cats before but as with any new pets would need appropriate integration. This is causing a lot of upset because rehoming her isn’t what I necessarily want and i never planned on. We love her, and this isn’t about not caring about her. If anything, it’s because I’m trying to think honestly about what is best for her as well as what is manageable. We haven’t made a final decision. I’m just putting feelers out to see whether there might be someone suitable who could offer Bambi the life she deserves, so that if we do eventually decide this is the right thing to do, we have explored our options. We would want to be extremely careful about where she went and would never want to rush into handing her over to just anyone. I would like to keep contact if we do decide to rehome her and she really means a lot to us. Please be kind.
