*Knopa — a 4-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog girl — is looking for a loving home where she can finally feel safe, loved and truly cherished.*
Her name, *Knopa, is a sweet Ukrainian nickname meaning *“little button”** — a lovely name for this gentle and very special girl. ❤️
Knopa is spayed and has a very gentle soul. She is not just a dog looking for a new home — she is a girl who has already lost the person she loved more than anyone in the world.
Knopa was the beloved dog of my very dear friend and best friend, a breeder in Ukraine. Even through the fear and uncertainty of war and bombing, Knopa lived happily with her owner and loved her with all her heart.
Her owner had no family or relatives of her own — *her dogs were her family, her whole life.*
Sadly, this year something absolutely heartbreaking happened. Knopa's owner suddenly passed away from an incurable illness, leaving her beloved dogs without the person they depended on completely.
Together with several of her other dogs, I managed to bring Knopa out of Ukraine during the last days of her owner's life.
For Knopa, it was an enormous trauma — losing the woman she adored, leaving everything she had ever known, and then enduring a long and difficult journey to a new country.
It took a lot of time, patience and love to help her recover from the shock and begin trusting strangers again. *Slowly, she has learned that she can trust new people and that she is safe.*
And now, more than anything, *I want to find her the home she deserves.*
A home where someone will have plenty of time for her.
A home where she will be loved as a member of the family.
*A home where she can finally feel secure again, knowing that her person is there for her.*
🏡 *THE RIGHT HOME FOR KNOPA*
* A loving *female owner is essential*.
* No young children.
* She could potentially live with a *calm male dog of medium or large breed*, subject to a proper introduction.
* A quieter home and quieter walking areas would suit her best.
* She walks nicely on a lead.
* She is clean in the house and does not toilet indoors.
* She travels very well in the car.
* She needs someone patient, gentle and understanding who will allow her to continue building her confidence at her own pace.
Knopa is not looking for a perfect house.
*She is looking for her person.*
Someone who will understand that behind those beautiful eyes is a dog who has experienced an enormous loss — and who now deserves to discover what it feels like to be someone's beloved girl again.
I will be extremely careful about choosing her new home. This is not about finding just any home for Knopa.
