Hello, this is Dexter. He’s 6 years old, a sproodle and has been with us since he was a puppy. He’s been very well loved.
Unfortunately I’ve developed adult onset asthma and as a result I have been forced to make the most heartbreaking decision of my life and find another home for him.
We’re looking for a person/family who are kind, patient and confident with anxious and lively dogs. Someone who is also dedicated to working with a trainer or who is very knowledgable themselves. We’re also looking for someone who wouldn’t mind keeping in touch a little bit and would be happy for us to come and see him now and again to take him out for the day. He gets incredibly attached to the people he knows and loves so hard, he really is one of a kind.
Here’s what you need to know about Dexter:
He is obsessed with cuddles on the sofa and is extremely affectionate
He has nipped a vet and our toddler daughter (Warning nip)
He gets upset and barks when left alone at home and this will need to be worked on and will take time
He does hump sometimes when he’s feeling anxious
He has a very loud bark and will bark very loud when the door goes or someone comes in
He needs a lot of enriching physical activity and is fantastic at jumping and a fast runner
He is not neutered, this is definitely something to consider doing
Not suitable for a house with cats
He adores other dogs
Not suitable for a home with children under 10 years old
Not suitable for anyone planning on having children
Not suitable for anyone who has young family members visit regularly
Must have a good sized garden that is secure
Things that need working on with a professional trainer:
-His separation anxiety when left alone at home
-His anxious behaviour when people come
to visit
We want to do this properly and make sure we home him with the right person so please bear with me as I may speak to a few people simultaneously in order to find the right home for him.
