Gem was found wandering around an apartment block in Crete; a resident called a local rescue, but sadly they were full. The resident stated she would kill Gem if she was not removed. The rescue had to make space for her as the lady would likely not have been bluffing. She is 15 months old and neutered. Full Bio below. How is Gem with other dogs? Gem gets on well with other dogs and wants to make friends. She is currently in foster with our dog and loves to play. How does Gem travel? Gem travels well. She wears her harness in the car and is clipped into the seatbelt. Is Gem good with cats? Yes, she is good with cats. Is Gem good with children? Gem has met a couple of children and was very friendly. She can be a bit nervous when first meeting people but soon comes around. Does Gem walk well on the lead? Gem does not really pull on the lead. She is still very young, and some work will be needed with walking straight, as she can wander from side to side. Is Gem nervous of anything? Gem is nervous of loud, unusual noises and loud roads. She is gradually being introduced to busier roads so that she can get used to the noises. She is also a little nervous of doors that she hasn't been through, but with encouragement will go through and is fine after that. How much does Gem weigh? 17.5kg Is Gem house trained? Gem is house trained. Since she has been in foster we have had no accidents in the house. What food does Gem eat? Gem is currently on Forhglade Complete. Where does Gem sleep? Gem sleeps downstairs with our dog from approx 11 pm to 5.30 am. We do not hear from her at all during the night. Can Gem be left alone? Gem is currently being left alone for short periods of time with our dog. We have a camera so we can check on her. She seems to be OK and we have caught her and our dog both sleeping a couple of times. Does Gem need to live with another dog? Gem has lived with other dogs in foster in Crete and now with us in the UK with our dog. She is very sociable with other dogs and loves living with them and has probably taken guidance and confidence from them. In this respect, I would say that she would be best to live with another dog/dogs, but she is young so could maybe adapt to be an only dog. What is Gem's recall? Gem knows her name. She currently has not been off lead with us. Does Gem go upstairs? Yes, Gem has been upstairs and manages the stairs well. Summary Gem is a little sweetheart, and we have loved having her stay with us in foster. She has been an absolute pleasure.
