Description

. We haven’t had Sonny for very long and, unfortunately, we weren’t properly informed about the level of care and training he needs before taking him on. Sonny is a lovely dog and when we’re out of the house, he really is brilliant. He loves being off lead, chasing a ball and having a good run around. When he’s on lead, he doesn’t pull and generally does as he’s told. However, at home he needs a lot of time, patience and training, which we unfortunately just don’t have the capacity to give him. He currently barks when left alone, so he would need someone who has plenty of time to work with him and gradually teach him that being left alone is safe and okay. He can also be very stubborn and currently needs work on basic commands such as “down” and “leave it”. He also doesn’t like being moved by his collar, which is something we’re particularly concerned about because we have young children. Although he has been absolutely brilliant with our toddler and I genuinely couldn’t fault him around him, we don’t want to take any unnecessary risks, so we feel he would be better suited to a home with older children. We also have cats and Sonny has been completely fine with them and doesn’t bother them at all. He currently gets around 3 hours of exercise a day and sleeps in a crate overnight, as he is known to have accidents if left to roam the house. This is a really difficult decision and I absolutely hate having to do it, but I have to be honest about what Sonny needs. He deserves a home where someone has the time, patience and experience to work with him properly and help him become the best dog he can be. We are looking for the right home for him rather than simply the quickest home. If you’re genuinely interested and think you could be a good fit for Sonny, please message me.
