Description
Sienna is looking for her next homeđ
Sienna is a 15.2hh, 10-year-old Thoroughbred mare who I have had the pleasure of owning for 5 years. She is sadly looking for a new home due to my own competing commitments, work, and not having the time I feel she deserves.
Sienna is a gentle, sensible and well-mannered mare who is happiest when she has a job to do and a quieter lifestyle. She isnât a particularly cuddly horse and prefers to have her own space, but often she will come up to you while poo picking for a scratch, even though she isnât a cuddly girl, she is lovely to handle and has excellent spatial awareness without being pushy.
đżHACKING
Sienna is a very experienced and sensible hacking horse and has been used as a ânannyâ at my instructors yard for younger horses.
She is:
⨠good with roadwork
â¨good with busy roads and farming machinery
â¨happy hacking alongside a busy road
â¨excellent alone or in company
â¨happy to go in front, behind or in the middle in a group
â¨good in open spaces
â¨good on countryside rides
â¨sensible and straightforward
â¨good to ride and lead, having done this during her time as a polo pony
â¨good to be led from another horse
She is not a horse who will take off with you in open spaces - she wonât go unless you ask, and will come back when asked.
She doesnât buck or rear, although she is still a horse and will occasionally spook at the odd leaf!đđ
đď¸EXPERIENCE
Sienna has had plenty of experience away from home and has attended pony club rallies, camps, giving her experience in different environments and around lots of different horses and riders.
She has also been away to a confidence camp with Sam York at Epworth Equestrian, adding to her experience of travelling, staying away and working in an unfamiliar environment.
She was previously a polo pony, so she has also experienced a completely different type of work and is used to being around both mares and geldings.
đRIDING
Sienna is good in all paces and is a very responsive ride. She is particularly responsive when lunging and listens well to voice commands.
She DOES NOT enjoy traditional schooling in a field or an arena and WILL NOT work in a contact, this isnât something I would want a new home to try and change,
She can jump, but it is very much on her terms. Some days she enjoys it and other days she will simply tell you sheâd rather not!đ she does enjoy poles, but ideally I would like her to go to a hacking home rather than a competition home.
Due to her character and way of going, she is NOT suitable for nervous, inexperienced or novice riders. She would suit a confident, sympathetic and knowledgeable rider who understands Thoroughbreds and is looking for a horse to enjoy rather than produce for competition.
đ§źHANDLING & MANNERS
Sienna is:
â¨good to load
â¨good for the farrier
â¨good for the vet
â¨good to groom
â¨good to catch
â¨good with other horses, mares and geldings
â¨good stable manners
â¨happy to tolerate bathing
She can pull faces when girthing, but is otherwise good to handle.
She has been clipped previously and was sensitive to one hind leg, so she did require a twitch for that leg.
Sienna is currently living out 24/7 on a rented field at a farm and is quiet and settled there. We would prefer a home where she can continue living out 24/7, or somewhere offering plenty of daily turnout rather than being stabled 24/7.
â¤ď¸HER IDEAL HOME
Sienna is looking for a loving, knowledgeable and experienced home where she can enjoy a quieter life as a hacking horse.
She would suit someone who is a soft and sympathetic rider and simply wants to enjoy hacking, exploring the countryside and having fun together, whilst giving her the quieter and more relaxed lifestyle ssshe deserves.
She has absolutely no need to be a competition horse and I feel she would be happiest with someone who appreciates her for what she is.
đTHE BORING BUT IMPORTANT BITS
â¨front shoes, barefoot behind
â¨teeth and vaccines up to date
â¨scar on right hind leg - details can be discussed privately
â¨weight needs to be monitored carefully, as she can lose weight quickly through autumn/winter.
â¨No behavioural quirks
