About Sylvie
Sylvie is a gorgeous, fun loving girl currently being fostered in Lincolnshire, where she is winning everyone over with her affectionate nature and enthusiasm for life! She is an incredibly friendly, playful dog who absolutely adores people and wants to make friends with everyone she meets. Whether it's enjoying a fuss, playing with her favourite toys or bouncing around with excitement, Sylvie is a happy go lucky little girl with a very positive attitude.
Sylvie loves human company and is always delighted to receive attention. She has been lovely with the children she has met and is happy to be stroked and fussed over, although she can become very excitable and although she’s a short little thing, she has an impressive ability to jump! Her foster is working on teaching her to keep all four paws on the floor, so this is something her new family will need to continue, particularly around younger children. She is a sociable girl who enjoys being involved in family life and would suit a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, playtime and affection.
Sylvie loves playing with her toys and she is always ready for a game. She hasn't quite mastered the concept of fetch yet, but she’s trying! She also enjoys getting out for walks and is already doing well on the lead. She can pull a little and has a habit of zigzagging as she explores, but nothing excessive, and her foster is helping her develop some better walking manners. With moderate exercise needs and a playful personality, Sylvie would enjoy a family who can offer her regular walks alongside plenty of opportunities to play and learn.
Sylvie is also very enthusiastic about other dogs, although her excitement can sometimes get the better of her. She currently lives with another dog and loves seeking out his company, encouraging him to play and snuggling up to him. However, she doesn't always recognise when another dog might appreciate a little personal space and can be rather bouncy in her attempts to make friends. She will benefit from continued guidance around appropriate greetings and learning to read other dogs' signals.
One important area that Sylvie's new family will need to understand is her behaviour around food and resources. Although she enjoys the company of her foster's resident dog, she has shown significant guarding behaviour around mealtimes, particularly when she finishes eating before him. To manage this, it is necessary to feed her separately. Aside from this though, she is brilliant with the resident dog. Given her confident, sociable nature, she could cope as the only dog in the household, where she can enjoy all the attention and her food and toys without competition.
Sylvie is a clever little character who is beginning to learn her basic commands. She can sit for a treat, is working on lying down and is starting to understand when she is being asked to stop doing something. She is also doing well with her housetraining, with only a few accidents in her foster home, and will use puppy pads when needed. She isn't crate trained, and although she has managed being left for around two hours with the resident dog, she has shown some signs of separation anxiety. She hasn't been destructive, but would benefit from a home where time alone can be introduced gradually and her confidence with being left can continue to develop.
Sylvie would suit a home in a residential or semi-rural area with people who enjoy an affectionate, energetic and slightly mischievous companion. She has so much enthusiasm for people and other dogs, but still needs help learning how to manage that excitement and understand boundaries. Her new family will need to be patient and consistent with her training, particularly around jumping up, interactions with other dogs and resource guarding.
There is a great deal to love about Sylvie. She is affectionate, sociable and full of personality, with a playful nature that makes her a lot of fun to have around. With the right guidance and a home that understands the areas she still needs help with, she has every opportunity to develop into a wonderful companion.
