Description

Baker is a year and a half old (19-10-24) and sadly due to the deterioration of my health and my eldest son leaving for university I am now looking to rehome my boy. Baker like most retrievers does display resource gaurding around certain things and currently has a dominance issue, this is due to his high energy needs not being met. He is a high energy boisterous un neutered adolescent in need of a firm owner who can maintain his high energy needs. I am ONLY considering rehoming him to someone who has the breed experience and assertive training experience to take Baker back to basics preferably keeping him for working purposes as he is an outdoor dog and enjoys being outside more than he does in. He is highly reactive to noise but is great with other animals , he has a very playful nature and does despite his minimal behavioural issues have quite a character. He requires alot of mental stimulation as boredom will trigger rea ctive behaviour. So again will only consider someone who has the ability to provide him with the right environment to help him flourish. He has had basic training but also chooses ignorance over obedience and although he is brilliant off lead his lack of recall of his choosing can be frustrating. He lives with women and men and children of mixed ages and would be great with a 4 legged buddy to help curb the boredom once his training is re established. He is a young dog with alot of potential but requires the work to get him to where he needs to be. He doesn't travel well in cars and can display dominance and reluctance in loading which again can be resolved with consistency in training. He does require work and I am only willing to respond to people that can genuinely provide what he needs, he requires a strong willed owner as he is a strong willed and currently defiant dog. None of which cant be reversed with training. I have a month to find him the right home, Baker is a work in progress with High reward and if you think you can give him the best life then please give me a message. I want nothing but the best for my boy and unfortunately that is no longer with us. Although more suited to working life than domesticated he is still part of our family and I will not allow him to go to anyone that cannot provide the above for him. Price is set to make sure potential owners for him are genuine.
