Description
Hank is about to turn 1 years old, his mum was a miniature chocolate dachshund, and his dad was a wire haired jack russell. I have listed Hank previously, but removed the ad, as we decided to keep him, but my circumstances have significantly changed since then, and I now no longer have a choice but to rehome him, and I sadly need to do this as soon as possible. He is a lovely little dog, very affectionate and loves being a lapdog. He does need training, he knows some commands, but is pretty stubborn and easily distracted, so would benefit from some professional training sessions. He still needs to be taken out every 2-3 hours to go to the toilet, or he will have an accident indoors. He has separation anxiety and doesn’t like being left alone for long periods of time. He is crate trained and sleeps in there at night, but isn’t keen on being in there during the day. He lives with several cats, so could live with other cats, but would need to be a bold cat/cats, as he does chase them and definitely likes playing with them more than they do him! He lives with young children, so is fine with kids. He is dog reactive on walks and will bark at any dog he sees, but is ok with dogs that he knows and is familiar with. He is your typical dachshund x jack russell, and possesses traits of both breeds, so he can be a handful. But I will say he is slightly calmer than he was a few months ago. He needs to go to a good home, where training will be provided, and he won’t be left alone for long periods of time (you will preferably work from home or have someone at home all the time) he is very people orientated and just wants to be with his people. He does tend to bond with one person in the household, more than others, but I think that’s more of a respect for the ‘alpha’ kind of thing. He definitely sees me as the alpha and is very attached to me and listens to me more than anyone else, he has selective listening with them! He is still young, so I believe with time and training, he can be a wonderful dog for the right person. As I say, my circumstances have significantly changed, my children and myself are needing to move into emergency housing, and I can’t take Hank with me. I’m due to give birth in 3 weeks, so time isn’t on my side. Happy to answer any questions, but serious enquiries only, please.
