Description
With an incredibly heavy heart, we are looking for the perfect forever home for our much-loved boy, Pops. This is not a decision we have made lightly. We have sought advice from rescues and behaviour support, and have been advised that rehoming him ourselves is his best chance.
Pops is a neutered male with a huge heart. He loves cuddles, enjoys being close to his people, and is a real fuss pot who thrives on affection. He has so much love to give and deserves a home where he can feel safe and understood.
Sadly, Pops has developed a dislike of our 13-year-old autistic son, whose involuntary foot tics trigger Pops to snap at his feet. Despite trying training and careful management, the behaviour has not improved, and our son is now frightened of him. For everyone's safety and wellbeing, we have made the heartbreaking decision to find Pops a more suitable home.
Pops' ideal home:
• Adult-only home with no children.
• He can happily live with female dogs and currently lives with three female dogs without any issues.
• He does not get on with male dogs since being neutered, so he needs to be the only male dog in the home.
• He must be fed separately, as he has food guarding/food defensive behaviours around other dogs.
• He has lived with our cat, but we cannot guarantee he would accept another cat in a new home.
This is not a decision based on convenience. We love Pops dearly, but our priority has to be the safety of our son while giving Pops the opportunity to live a happy, fulfilling life. The alternative would be behavioural euthanasia, which we desperately want to avoid because we truly believe he can thrive in the right environment.
We will only consider homes where Pops will be loved, understood, and given the stability he needs. If you have experience with dogs who need clear boundaries and a calm, child-free home, and feel you could offer Pops the life he deserves, please get in touch.
