Great Dogue De Bordeaux Puppies for sale

The Dogue de Bordeaux, also known as Bordeaux Mastiff, French Mastiff, Bordeauxdog, is one of the oldest breeds native to France. They were originally bred to hunt large animals and were often used as fighting dogs in the past. They look impressive with their very large, distinctive heads, and despite being so large, they are extremely agile and quick on their feet when they need to be, and as such a Dogue de Bordeaux is more than capable of leaping over great heights, including garden fences.

FAQs

Are Dogue de Bordeaux dogs good family pets?

Dogue de Bordeaux dogs can make good family pets when properly trained and socialised. They are loyal, calm, affectionate, and generally gentle with children, making them patient family companions. However, they require experienced owners due to their size and specific needs.

Are Dogue de Bordeaux dogs aggressive?

Dogue de Bordeaux dogs tend to be protective rather than aggressive without cause. While they may show dominance and occasional dog-to-dog aggression as they mature, early socialisation and firm, consistent training are key to managing their protective instincts and stubbornness.

Why are Dogue de Bordeaux dogs expensive?

The cost of Dogue de Bordeaux dogs is relatively high due to their rarity, specialised breeding to maintain health and temperament, large size, and the need for careful health management. Their breed-specific care requirements contribute to their expense.

What is the average lifespan of a Dogue de Bordeaux dog?

Dogue de Bordeaux dogs have a notably short lifespan, typically ranging from 5 to 8 years. This shorter longevity is mainly due to their large size and breed-specific health problems such as heart issues and hip dysplasia.
