Glen of Imaal Terrier Puppies for sale

The Glen of Imaal Terrier, also known as Irish Glenn of Imaal Terrier, Wicklow Terrier, originates from Ireland, and although it was once a very popular breed, it is now on the Kennel Club"s endangered native breeds list, and very few puppies are bred and registered with the club each year. Also known as the Wicklow Terrier, the dog is tough yet extremely gentle, making it a popular hunting dog for many years as well as a great companion and family dog.

FAQs

Glen of Imaal Terriers are rare due to their historical near-extinction around World War II and their limited breeding population since then. Despite revival efforts, they remain one of the rarest terrier breeds, with fewer than 300 puppies registered annually in the UK and a global population estimated at around 3,100 dogs. Their rarity is also due to limited geographic distribution, especially outside Ireland, and the small number of dedicated breeders worldwide.
