The Vienna Rabbit, also known as the Vienna Blue, is a medium to large breed originating in Austria, developed in the late 19th century by Wilhelm Mucke through fifteen years of selective breeding. Mucke crossed Flemish Giants with older Moravian breeds to produce a rabbit with a distinctively beautiful, blue-grey coat with a characteristic sheen and uniform depth of colour. The Vienna is recognised in the UK by the British Rabbit Council under the category of Normal Fur breeds, though it is not yet recognised by the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Other colour varieties include white, agouti, and black.

Vienna Rabbits are well-proportioned, solidly built animals weighing between 3.5 and 5.25 kilograms, with broad, rounded bodies and silky, medium-length fur that lies flat against the body and carries a naturally lustrous finish. They are known for being gentle, affectionate, and easy-going in temperament, forming strong bonds with their owners when socialised from an early age. Viennas are generally good-natured with children and adapt well to both indoor and outdoor living, provided they have adequate space to move freely. Their coat is low-maintenance and requires weekly brushing to stay in good condition. The Vienna Rabbit remains a niche but admired breed in the UK, particularly popular among rabbit fanciers for its elegant colouring and pleasant character.
