The old Axolotl Reptiles for sale
11 Reptiles found
Axolotl, also known as the "walking fish," is a unique amphibian native to the lakes underlying Mexico City. This fascinating species is renowned for its neoteny, meaning it retains its larval features throughout its life, including external feathery gills and a paddle-like tail. These traits give the axolotl a distinct appearance, often described as smiling. Temperament-wise, axolotls are generally calm and solitary, making them suitable as pets for enthusiasts who can provide a spacious, cool aquarium with proper filtration. Important care requirements include maintaining water temperatures between 14-20°C and providing a diet of worms, insects, and small fish. Due to urbanisation and pollution, their natural habitat is critically endangered, which underscores the importance of responsible pet ownership and conservation efforts. Keywords such as "axolotl for sale UK," "axolotl pet," and "buy axolotl" reflect this interest in the UK market for this extraordinary amphibian.
