Meet Hope For Podencos

We are a breed specific charity that rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Spanish Podencos. Bred for hunting in Spain, they are excluded from animal welfare laws and are discarded in their thousands. They make wonderful pets - they are loyal, emotionally intelligent, and smart. They also have bags of character. They are so diverse in personality and also looks - they range from 5kg up to 40kg+ depending on the different regional varieties. They come in smooth and rough coats, lots of different colours and also you get lots of podenco mixes too. We do also have puppies sometimes available to adopt. The possibilities are endless and there is almost certainly a podenco out there for everyone although it’s worth noting that due to their prey drive, recall is not their strong point and a condition of adoption is that they will be on lead only for a minimum of a year with no guarantee after that time that they will achieve reliable recall.
