Standard Poodles usually begin to calm down around 2 to 3 years of age. While puppies and adolescents tend to be energetic and sometimes excitable, maturity generally brings a more composed and level-headed temperament.

Standard Poodles can exhibit behavior issues such as shyness or introversion if not properly socialised, which may cause them to be standoffish or nippy, separation anxiety due to their people-oriented nature, obsessive bonding with their owners, and sensitivity to their owner's mood that can lead to depression or being spoiled.
