The Romanian Rescue Appeal - Registered Charity Number 116103 is a UK founded rescue to help rescuers in Romania get dogs to a safe place. The charity was founded by Lindsey Church in March 2014. Prior to that she says she would close her eyes and ears to pictures and stories, only so that she could sleep and not be haunted by the faces of helplessness and desperation. Romanian Rescue Appeal brings together a team of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from the awful situations they face in Romania. It is run by a group of Trustees and volunteers, with the support of several other experienced rescuers in the UK and Romania. We aim to find loving new homes here in the UK for as many dogs as we can. We also aim to support the building of more rescue places in Romania so that there is somewhere safe for dogs to go to before they can come to the UK. We do not "employ" anybody in the UK - it is all voluntary. All of the dogs advertised for adoption are being fostered in the U.K We do ask for a minimum adoption donation which will be stated in the profile of the dog. This goes towards preparing the dog for transport to the U.K - vaccinations, passport, neutering, etc. Please note: The first step in the adoption process is to complete our online application form, which will be screened by our team. This will be followed by a home check which will be carried out by one of our volunteers. Only when this has been passed will we proceed with your application.
Before you apply for one of our dogs, please note our adoption/foster policies below:
Children in the household must be 6 years old and above. If you have visiting children, we will look at each application individually. We cannot adopt to you if you are pregnant or planning to be in the near future.
Your garden must be fully secure – no gaps that a dog can escape from. Fencing as standard should be 6ft. Please bear in mind this includes gates. If you are willing to add additional height to your boundries using trellis or similar, your application can be considered and we will need to see proof that appropriate work has been completed to ensure the required height.
We can accept applications from people in flats (Ground and First Floor only) If you do not have direct access to a private garden, only some dogs will be suitable and please be respectful of this.
We cannot accept applications from people living in house shares.
We also have a Facebook page - Romanian Rescue Appeal where you can see photos of all our dogs and a website (rrauk.com). We are a charity and do not make any money on the adoption fees - more often it costs more to have a dog in our care than it does rehoming them. We always home check no exceptions.
Our interest is the dogs' welfare so any abusive contact will be terminated and no future contact will be made
