Description
Buzz and Hobnob are two lovely male guinea pigs, both approximately 2 years old. They are not neutered.
They have lived alongside each other for most of their lives and are currently housed in a large shared enclosure with a secure divider between them. This means they can still see, smell and interact with each other, while having their own individual space.
Unfortunately, Hobnob can be unpredictable and has previously started fights with Buzz. Buzz is a much more anxious and nervous guinea pig, so I made the decision to separate them physically for their safety and wellbeing. They have settled well with this arrangement and I would not recommend trying to put them back together.
Buzz is the more timid of the two. He can be nervous and takes a little time to feel comfortable, but he is a sweet boy and enjoys having a safe, quiet environment where he can do his own thing.
Hobnob is the more confident and independent of the two. He has a bigger personality and can be very entertaining, but he can also be unpredictable, particularly around Buzz, which is why he needs to continue living separately.
Both boys are used to having plenty of space, hay, hides, tunnels and enrichment. They are currently kept indoors in a large enclosure and have plenty of room to exercise and explore.
I would ideally like them to go to an experienced guinea pig owner who understands their individual personalities and is able to provide separate housing for them. They can remain together in the sense that they can live alongside one another with a secure divider, but they must not be physically housed together.
They do not necessarily need to be rehomed together, provided they each go to a suitable and loving home.
This is not a decision I have taken lightly. They are both much-loved pets and I want to make sure they go to someone who will give them the care, space and attention they deserve for the rest of their lives.
Please only enquire if you are genuinely able to provide a permanent, suitable home and understand that these two boys have different needs and personalities.
