Description
This is something I never thought I would have to do, and it is with a very heavy heart that I am looking to rehome my 1-year-old Border Collie.
Due to having major surgery and unfortunately not having the help or support I need to care for him properly, I have had to make the heartbreaking decision to find him a new home. This is absolutely not a decision I have made lightly, and my priority is finding him the right family who can give him the time, exercise, attention and love he deserves.
He is a very loving and affectionate boy with a lovely personality. He absolutely loves going to the beach, playing with his tennis balls and interactive games. He knows basic commands such as sit and wait and enjoys having things to keep both his body and mind occupied.
As with any young Border Collie, he has lots of energy and needs an active home that can provide long walks, exercise and plenty of mental stimulation. He would be happiest with someone who genuinely enjoys an active lifestyle and understands the needs of the breed.
Important information about his home requirements:
* He is not comfortable around children under 10, so he would need an adult home or a home with older children.
* He is good with smaller dogs, although he has not always been comfortable around dogs of a similar size.
* He has never lived with a cat, so I cannot say how he would be in a home with cats. When he sees cats while out, he generally doesn’t seem particularly bothered by them.
* He will need someone who has the time and commitment to give him plenty of exercise, training, play and mental stimulation.
* A secure garden and an active home would be ideal.
He really is a lovely dog who deserves a home where his needs can be met and where he will be part of the family. I am not looking to rush this or simply pass him on to anyone — finding the right home is much more important to me than how quickly he is rehomed.
I would be very happy to answer any questions and speak to genuinely interested people about him, his personality and his needs. I would also want to have an honest conversation about whether he would be a good fit for your home before making any arrangements.
This is an incredibly difficult decision, and I just want to make sure he goes to someone who will love him as much as I do and give him the happy, active life he deserves.
