Description

Waffle is a hand-reared cockatiel, hatched around 2 April 2026, so he's five months old. He came to us at four weeks and has been a much-loved family bird. Given to us as male, though at his age he's unsexed and it won't be certain until his first moult. He appears to be a pearl — lovely scalloped cream markings across his wings and back, a bright yellow face and crest and vivid orange cheeks. What he's like Waffle is properly tame and genuinely affectionate. He loves a fuss and will sit for head rubs for as long as you'll give them. His wings aren't clipped, and he flies confidently — he'll fly to people, and once he's picked his favourite person, he'll happily stay put with them. He's curious and playful, a bit of a ground explorer, and every so often he'll do a lap of the room at speed just because he can. He's on the more sensitive, watchful side rather than bold, which is fairly typical of the breed. He isn't a biter — he'll give a small nip if he doesn't like something, but it's a protest, not aggression, and it doesn't hurt. My daughter has done some training with him, and he's part of the way to a reliable step-up. He'd benefit from someone picking that up and carrying on. He's young, bright and willing, so I'd expect him to come along quickly. Food Pellets, fresh greens and some seed. Absolutely mad for sunflower seeds, which makes training easy. Why he's looking for a new home Waffle is a proper flock bird. He calls when you leave the room and wants company for most of the day. That's exactly what cockatiels are, and it's the honest reason we're rehoming him — our flat and our working hours don't give him the out-of-cage time and attention he deserves. There's nothing wrong with him and no behavioural problems at all. He simply needs a household that's home more than ours is. Cage Available with him if it's useful, or he can come on his own if you already have a setup. It's a large cage on a wheeled stand — 79 x 49cm footprint, 133cm tall overall, with 75 x 45 x 92cm of cage. 1cm bar spacing, wide 23 x 26cm main door, natural wood perch, and a lower shelf for storage. All his toys can come too. Who I'm looking for Someone who'll give him plenty of time out of the cage and daily company. Happy to answer questions, and very happy for you to come and meet him first. If you don't need the cage will consider £70 just for Waffle.
