Description
I got him from a rescue from abroad when he was 5 months old. Naively thought getting a puppy from abroad would mean he didnt come with emotional baggage alot of street dogs have. Unfortunately as I have learnt along the way this is not the case.
I have had him for 4 years, he is, for the most part, the most amazingly loyal, loving well trained dog. But he has fear aggression, he will snap at people who come into his home who he doesnt know, he will snap at people who frighten him accidentally, he will snap at cyclists and motorcycles.
He has bitten 2 members of public, both walked past him from behind when he was resting. His bite history means I cannot find a rescue to take him on. I can no longer keep him due to moving away from an abusive ex and now living in a home which is just not working for us.
He barks alot, the neighbours have complained. I have tried everything but my mental health is deteriorating which is not helping his behaviours. I love him so much, rescues will not help me, my only option is to put him down which seems so incredibly unfair.
He has grown up arpund my 4 children and has been a dream with them but is not great with children he doesnt know so cannot go to a home that has children, he cannot go to a home with cats or other small animals as he will chase them constantly. Some one who has experiences with large dogs, dogs from abroad is a must and someone who can help him adjust to the change and new faces, he will need lots of time to get to used to you. He is absoloutley amazing with other dogs, he's never met a dog he hasn't liked so another dog in the home would also be great however He has lived alone and with another dog and has been absolutely fine with both situations. Can be left at home with no issues, fully toulet trained, not the biggest eater going but never has been. He rough plays and is a bit confused with how to play with toys although he will enjoy chasing a ball. Loves bones. Not muzzle trained, we did try but he massively disliked it. Walks well on leads and doesnt pull unless he sees a fox. Is quiet anxious about fireworks, loud bangs, people, car rides are not his favourite. Won't let you touch his feet and really dislikes vets so hasn't been for 2 years. Is microchips and neutered. Please really heed the bite risk warning and understand that will not accept you straight away, it takes 3 to 4 visits for him to meet someone for him to accept someone new into our home. He is very anxious and his first reaction is to bark and lunge then bite. He is amazing dog, but i dont want all his positive aspects to over shadow the fact that it is so important to know that he can and will bite and he is a big dog, 5 foot tall when he stands on his back legs, so you need to really consider this before you even think about messaging me. I want the best for him but have been let down by so many rescues, this is my last resort to find him a home
Message me for anything else.
