We are very carefully looking for the right forever home for Rex, our 6-month-old Cockapoo/Spaniel. This decision has not been made lightly and his welfare is our absolute priority.
Rex was originally our puppy and was rehomed to a trusted friend, however due to a change in their circumstances he had to return to us.
Rex is a bright, affectionate and intelligent young dog with lots of potential. He knows his basic training, walks well on the lead and his recall is coming along well. He is friendly with people (a little shy at first), good with other dogs, and has been good around children.
As Rex is still a puppy, there are areas that will need continued work:
• He is not fully toilet trained yet
• He can cry if left in the garden and prefers company
• He has very mild separation anxiety
• He has a very active mind and can struggle to switch off sometimes
• He can become over-stimulated and occasionally nippy when playful
• He benefits from crate time to help him settle and rest
Because of this, Rex will need both mental stimulation and physical exercise, along with calm, consistent training and a structured routine.
Rex is not a ready-made, low-maintenance puppy and will need continued training, time and commitment, so please only enquire if you are serious and able to meet his needs.
The home we are looking for:
• A calm, patient and consistent owner
• Someone with the time and commitment to continue his training
• Ideally a home without young children, so Rex can be the main focus
(A home with older children may be considered for an exceptional match)
Important note:
Our 12-year-old daughter has formed a strong bond with Rex and has spent a lot of time training and caring for him. This is a very emotional situation for her, so we would ideally like to remain in contact very occasionally with Rex’s new family for occasional updates or photos, if the right home is found.
We are not in a rush and will only consider homes that fully understand Rex’s needs. A meet-and-greet will be essential, and we are happy to discuss Rex honestly with genuine enquiries.
Rex deserves a loving, committed forever home where he can thrive.
