We are looking for a very special, understanding home for our beautiful 4 year old male greyhound, Bron. He came out of racing in November and has adapted to home life really well. He is a very affectionate, gentle boy who absolutely loves cuddles and being close to his people. He has never shown any aggression towards humans. Bron is house trained and has been happily living in a home environment. He can be left for up to 8 hours when crated and settles well. He has a sensitive stomach but does well on a wheat-free diet. He is muzzle trained and comfortable wearing one when needed. He enjoys playing (especially a game of fetch) and is generally very easy to handle. He is good to groom and has no issues having his claws done. Like most greyhounds, he feels the cold and enjoys being kept warm in winter with jumpers and cosy bedding. He also drinks plenty of water throughout the day. On walks, he can be reactive to some dogs (particularly small or light-coloured dogs), but this has been manageable with the right handling and awareness. We want to be completely honest to find him the safest and most suitable home. When we took Bron on, we were informed that he was safe around other dogs. However, even after allowing time for him to settle and transition into home life, this has unfortunately not proven to be the case. There has been a recent serious incident while boarding, where Bron attacked a small dog he had previously been around without issue. This resulted in the other dog requiring surgery. Given that he had been there multiple times before with no problems, this appears to be linked to prey drive rather than a one-off reaction. Because of this, Bron will need to be the only pet in the home and cannot live with small dogs or other animals. This is essential for safety. He would suit a quiet home, ideally with someone who understands greyhounds or has experience with reactive or prey-driven dogs. In the right setting, he is a loving, loyal companion who just wants a peaceful life and someone to bond with. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, and our priority is finding him a safe, stable home where he can thrive.
